
Program Overview
The Georgia Certified Landscape Professional certification demonstrates mastery of essential landscape industry skills and knowledge. This comprehensive certification program is endorsed by the Georgia Urban Ag Council, Georgia Green Industry Association, and officially recognized by the Georgia Department of Agriculture.
Certification Process
1) Register
Complete program registration includes:
- Comprehensive study manual (400+ pages)
- Access to online study materials
- Testing fees for all certification components
- One written exam session and one hands-on exam session
2) Complete Required Examinations
Written Components (4 hours total)
- General Knowledge (90 min): 100 multiple-choice questions
- Plan Take-Off (60 min): Landscape plan interpretation and calculations
- Pest & Disorder Identification (45 min): 25 sample identifications
- Plant Identification (45 min): 50 plant identifications from standard list
Hands-On Components (3 hours total)
- Plan Layout (30 min): Accurate measurement and plant placement
- Tree Planting and Staking (15 min): Proper planting techniques
- Grading and Drainage (30 min): Topographic interpretation
- Pruning (30 min): Demonstration of techniques and knowledge
- Sod Installation (15 min): Proper installation methods
- Irrigation (30 min): System components and adjustments
- Pesticide Application and Safety (15 min): Safety protocols and application knowledge
- Equipment Operation and Safety (15 min): Safe operation and maintenance
3) Maintain Certification
- Submit CEUs through our online reporting system
- Complete 15 hours of Continuing Education Units (CEUs) every three years

Spring Session – Gwinnett Tech, Lawrenceville, GA
- March 6: Written Exam (1:00 PM – 5:00 PM)
- March 7: Hands-on Exam (8:30 AM – 4:30 PM)
Fall Session – UGA Griffin Campus, Griffin, GA
- October 9: Written Exam (1:00 PM – 5:00 PM)
- October 10: Hands-on Exam (8:30 AM – 4:30 PM)
Registration deadline: One week prior to exam date
